Jo Hodson
Wellness Coach & Recipe Developer
I started out with a career in architecture but quickly noticed that I struggled to sit behind a computer drawing up details of buildings - I wanted to be on the building site laying the bricks! My desire to immerse myself in my work as a multi-sensory creative experience is a big part of what life is all about for me and definitely where my strengths lie.
Since leaving architecture I've had many career highlights including setting up my Wholeplus health food business and dealing with all aspects- development, design, marketing, packaging, production, sales etc single handedly. I recall the moment I received my largest order to date - 3000 pieces! I had to produce them in my home kitchen and package onto a pallet and ship to Germany.
Delivering a 60 minute talk on ’the power of plant based food’ on stage in front of a live an audience at a vegan festival with just 10 seconds notice when the scheduled speaker didn’t show up. Such a buzz!
I also hosting my first ever 7-day group wellness retreat in Lanzarote just 6 months after I’d ever boarded a plane abroad on my own.
My advice to another Neurodivergent woman, especially those who are entrepreneurial is to develop a deep awareness of your strengths and weaknesses. This will highlight the areas where you're most likely to benefit from having support which would help to avoid overwhelm or stress.
I recommend working with a coach who will hold space without judgement as you vent/share/process things. I've found it hugely beneficial for getting out of my head to a more grounded place.
